I’m so embarrassed I haven’t posted a blog in so long. I worked so hard from September to December to stay caught up after I came back from maternity leave, my computer crashed and I was booked until December 17th. It has been a crazy whirl wind of 4 months but it felt great to be back to work.
Right now I am finishing everything up for the year and then I will catch up on blogs and share all the amazing shoots I was blessed to capture.
-A quick note to you for 2012.. (I can’t believe it is only days away) I am already booked until March! And March is filling up quickly. If you have a date in mind and need to get on my calendar let me know asap! To hold your date I will send you a paypal bill to confirm it.

We had 154 comments the first day and 64 on day 2! Thank you everyone for stopping by and leaving your kind words, and for those of you that did on facebook as well. I couldn’t choose who the winners were so I used a number generator to choose the 2 lucky mini session winners. (Drum roll please…)

And for everyone else, this means I will be opening up 2 days in September that we will be doing 1 hour mini sessions for only 35$! The sessions will go fast so put your name in for one. We’ll do one day of outdoor photos and one day of studio photos. So you get your choice. I’ll post the dates for them when I get back from vacation.

Miss Savanah

I’m doing a portraiture class at the college for fun and last week our assignment was glamour. So I put a request for models on facebook and got two beautiful young ladies to come over and strike a pose for me. This young lady Savanah was gorgeous inside and out. She’s athletic, smart and beautiful. I wouldn’t say all of the photos were glamour, because I wanted to get some fun shots in there just for her. Something she would love and then a few that I could use for class. Savanah thanks so much for coming over. I had such a great time and the photos turned out great. Enjoy,

Hey there blog stalkers! Sorry I’ve been MIA but I haven’t found any spare time! Its a good thing though. I have so much to share. Today’s blog is a mix of a few things.

Last week I got a new baby. Jake got me the E-30 for my birthday! I love it. I haven’t had a chance to take it out to a session, but I’ve played around a little with it. It has art filters which my others don’t have. Not something I would use often, but fun to play with when I want something different and fun. This is Bethany and Kurklen with the Pin hole filter. This is straight out of camera (SOC),

This semester I am going back in time and taking a class on film! This is something I did years ago and haven’t done much of since. lol I’m not the most confident in developing and the dark room, but I’m learning and remembering and I think this class will be fun. This week’s class assignment is on textures. Here are a couple I took with my new camera. They are the same as the ones I took with film

One more thing… this last weekend I attended a women’s conference with some amazing women. While we were there I learned of a program, Worldvision.org . This organization allows you to sponsor a child or family in need from your choice of many countries. You can choose an age, gender, even birthdate. For a small amount each month you can make it possible for a family to eat, go to school, or get medical help they wouldn’t be able to get otherwise. I thought it was a beautiful thing, so when I got home Jake and I had Bethany choose a child. She wanted a little girl her age, and she is calling her- her sister. It is so cute. Our new little girl’s name is Chipo and she has a smile that won us all over. We are so excited and can’t wait to start sending her mail and goodies. Bethany wants to send her some earrings lol That was her first question after picking her out. Meet Chipo… (Photo courtesy of World Vision)

North to East Entrance of Yellowstone

Yesterday we spent the day doing a lot of driving since it was raining and we didn’t get to get out of the car a whole lot with our cameras. But we weren’t complaining. It was beautiful and cool outside and we loved the North entrance. The first photo was the entrance itself. It was a grand entrance especially with the lighting and clouds

Tower falls. The hike down was so much fun, but it was under construction so we couldn’t see the falls from the bottom. the hike up, now that was a killer! lol I either need to do more jazzercise or a new routine.

here is a prong horn sheep we saw right as we pulled into the park, but the only one we saw for the day.

This one is floating island lake, if I were a couple feet taller you would have been able to see the reflection of the trees in the lake a little better, but I’m not so this is what I got. I still love the picture.

Well thats all I have from the North and East entrance. Take my word when I say this was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. It is a must see. If you haven’t been to Yellowstone you should really go. If you have and like most people have only gone in thru the West (the most populated) entrance, take the pretty drive up the 191 and enjoy the trip. It is amazing.

Today we are hanging out to stretch our legs in Big Sky and we’re off to see Ousel Falls, and and hike teepee trail. Should be fun day. First stop… the park for a swing and slide for miss B.

Girls Week

This last week has been so much fun. My nephew Byron graduated from elementary school & made All Stars. Also, my niece Scarlet came out to see the graduation and was able to spend the week with us. Sadly we took her to the airport tonight, but we’re excited to that in a few weeks we’ll go to Arizona for her 8th Birthday and her baptism. We took a bunch of fun photos of the girls this week. Bethany loved having her favorite girl cousin spending the night and playing dress up. And boy did they play dress up.

We also played outside and got a chance to take a few pictures being silly. Bethany didn’t want her photo taken, but Birdie was the perfect model.

Tin Type Take Two

So I was very dissatisfied with my previous attempt at the digital tin type I made a few days ago. Its really hard to find information on tin type look-a-likes. After some research, some help from Tish on photoshop, and a couple of hours behind the computer, I feel I have honed in on what a digital tin type should look like. I used my second favorite model (Bethany) for this and found this pic of Bethany to be very appropriate with it’s narrow depth of field (only the face is in focus). I found many of the old tin types have a similar appearance with only the face in focus and almost have a three-dimensional quality about them. Anyway, I had a lot of fun making it and I hope you enjoy it. I plan on doing a few more of these, but would like them to be themed or staged as many of the old pics were of people dressed in the uniforms that identified their occupations like their turnouts, fatigues, cowboy garb, etc.

The Holga Journey

Hello blogstalkers, Jake here again. Well, as Tish mentioned, we are at the tail-end of our class. I’m sure many of you have seen some of our previous posts with holga shots. We have since taken many more photos with our holga cameras and also invested in a cable-release, which has made a huge difference in the quality of our photos. We turn in our assignments today and wanted to share some more of the pics with you. We hope you enjoy the shots as we had a lot of fun taking the pics and doing the assignment.
