Here have I been?!

I’m so embarrassed I haven’t posted a blog in so long. I worked so hard from September to December to stay caught up after I came back from maternity leave, my computer crashed and I was booked until December 17th. It has been a crazy whirl wind of 4 months but it felt great to be back to work.
Right now I am finishing everything up for the year and then I will catch up on blogs and share all the amazing shoots I was blessed to capture.
-A quick note to you for 2012.. (I can’t believe it is only days away) I am already booked until March! And March is filling up quickly. If you have a date in mind and need to get on my calendar let me know asap! To hold your date I will send you a paypal bill to confirm it.

Running out of holiday sessions…

Hey there photo friends… I am amazed at how many sessions I have booked and how many are booking for next year already! I know I posted in August that you would need to book your holiday sessions early and so many of you did, but there are always those that wait until the last minute… you know who you are; Don’t worry, I am trying to get you all in, but guess what… I am running out of room! So if I have emailed you a date, you need to email me soon because I am taking the first come first serve right now. There are just too many emails coming in for family sessions so hurry and get back to me!
If you can’t get in with me I do have a photographer that I can refer you to.
I think next year I’ll start booking holiday sessions earlier in the year!

A friend in need- Update…

Hi everyone,
Well I got word today that Keith has been put on dialysis and is back in ICU. His Doctors have taken away the hope that they gave the family and as of now they are just keeping him comfortable. Some have said it is just a matter of days. I know many of us are trusting that God will give us the miracle that we’ve been asking for, but again we’ve got to trust that He know’s’ what is best.

I don’t know how much time we have left with Keith here with us, but I know that right now they need our love, prayers, and support more than anything. If you can give anything at all, please do. I know how much it would mean to Rosanne, Keith and their daughters during this time.

What to wear…what to wear…

Ever wonder what to wear to your family photo shoot? I get asked all the time what to wear from families. I don’t mind answering, but I found this site on pinterest Click here which I can blame my sister for getting me addicted to. (Thank you Tina I love it!) This is such a great link for all of you to view. Laci Davis thank you! You hit the nail on the head explaining how to get “that look” that we all want hanging on our wall.
I am super excited for our family photos next month with the wonderful Aaron Hunter. I can’t wait to share them all with you! So I’m on the hunt for some outfits that will make our pictures “us” and for a purple couch! Yes thats my hint.. purple is our main color that we will work around! This is going to be so much fun. The best part is we will have a family photo with our beautiful Bethany and Justin together. Thanks Aaron for getting us in and I’m looking forward to it!

This was our last family photo, look at our sweet little B. This was taken on a tripod too so you can see why I’m so excited to get a session with Aaron. I do love this photo though.

A friend in Need

Hi there friends,
I have a special need that I wanted to ask some help for. Some of you know our friend Rosanne Abolnik and her husband Keith, and some of you just know Rosanne from the parent and tot classes in Apple Valley and Victorville Recreation centers, while others of you don’t know them at all. Well we met a couple years ago and have grown close to the family. Both of them are wonderful teachers here in the High Desert.
This year Rosanne’s husband Keith has learned that he has cancer. He has been in the hospital now for a couple weeks off and on and the status of his health has gone from bad to good and then good to bad. Every day things are changing. There is an group on facebook Keith Abolnik…standing with Keith, Rosanne and His Family that is giving his updated status as often as possible. Well this group is trying to raise money to help out the family. With both Keith out of work and Rosanne taking off time to be by his side in the hospital money is getting tight.
I know that everyone is struggling right now. I know that the economy stinks and that some of us are out of jobs. But this family is facing the chance of loosing their Husband, Father, Brother and Brother in Christ. I am asking tonight that if you could donate 1, 5, 10, 100 dollars- whatever you can find in your heart to help them through this terrible time. If you could donate what ever money you can to help them with hospital costs, traveling costs, and keeping their bills under control, please do. They are amazing people. They give to others like no other. Right now their hearts are heavy, but they are holding their heads high and trusting in God’s plan for them. I believe that we as friend in the community and/or friends in their lives can help them to make this time even a little easier. Anything can help right now. No amount is too small. Thank you.

I have created a new gallery with the edited photos that some of you chose. The others I chose for you since I haven’t heard from all of you.

The school ID cards will be ordered tomorrow morning. Please check the gallery to be sure I have all of your children’s names correctly. I will confirm them tomorrow with Sally just to be sure.

Crash, burn and waiting…

What a crazy couple of weeks we had. Last friday the 16th my computer crashed. The hard drive just died. Its only a year old computer so it was not expected at all. As a result I lost photoshop and all of my actions. So I took it down to Apple and dropped it off when they told me it would be 7-10 days to get it back. (Tears)
Following that I photographed a beautiful wedding in Oak Hills. I can’t wait to share the images with you, (Once I get photoshop back)
Then our 5 year old, Miss Bethany, had her tonsil’s removed on the 23rd. Ouch was that painful to everyone. Jake and I didn’t sleep for a couple days and B was in such pain it was heart breaking.
As if being sleep deprived and stressed wasn’t enough Sunday we woke up to our dogs being killed by a bobcat or mountain lion. They were killed in our backyard 15ft from their doggy door. So we have been devastated and exhausted. We have been blessed to have amazing friends and family be so supportive to us. Thank you to everyone.
Now this week I am photographing Mrs. Rosanne’s classes for the Apple Valley and Victorville Recreation Centers. And in the meantime I am waiting for Photoshop to arrive. I ordered it and paid expedited shipping to get it here as soon as possible, but again I am still waiting.
So shortly I will have photoshop up and running again, and I will do my best to get everyone’s galleries up and running as soon as I can. I will keep you posted here and on facebook as soon as I have news to share.

Photo Classes

A couple months ago I was teaching a photo class and I never posted photos from them, so I want to share. If you’ve taken one of my classes I’d love to hear from you. Did you get a lot out of it? Did you have fun? Anything I should touch more on? Let me know!
I have another class on October 1st, if you wanted to get in one. I have 2 spots open still. We’ll go over using your camera in manual modes, and the camera basics, natural lighting, reflectors, flash, and composition.

Everyone gets their picture taken… either standing or on a chair… but always with a camera!

All of our models get a CD of images with printing rights. So if your son or daughter is between the ages of 14-18 and willing shoot me an email. I’ve booked a model for October 1st- so if you send me an email I will put your name on my “go to” list for future needs. Thanks
